What time did you watch the movie?
What did you eat/drink while watching it?
Water and a Kashi Chocolate Soft-Baked Square
Who did you watch it with?
I watched it alone, but I really wished I’d had company.
Nigel. Scenes featuring him seem to be the funniest to me. The scene with the small bread and the scene where he’s talking about his guitars actually make me laugh out loud. The performance is spot on, over the top and absolutely brilliant.
The Stonehenge set piece. Seeing it get lowered onto the stage just KILLS me. Simply its presence manages to be funny and is the rare kind of physical comedy that I enjoy.
The scene where Nigel is talking about his guitars is probably my favorite. He and Rob Reiner play the thing so straight.. it’s just perfect.
Thoughts on the film.
I happened to be watching this movie when I was in a pretty bad mood. However, even considering that there were quite a few instances where I laughed out loud. As with all brilliant works of satire, the fact that it had such a ring of truth to it is part of what made me really enjoy it. I wasn’t too surprised to read that quite a few rock stars indicated that the movie hit close to home for them and that they identified with its characters and the circumstances they were in. This is Spinal Tap, like The Crow, was something I had added to my list because it seemed so relevant to pop culture. I wasn’t sure if it would actually be something that I’d really enjoy, though all signs seemed to indicate it would be. It was tremendous fun and I look forward to seeing it again with company.
